"After the baby's born"

"After the baby's born" is such an odd concept right now. That phrase (or something close) came up in conversation yesterday and Jen and I both just paused a moment. We just found out Sunday, so the "baby" is 3-4 weeks old and about the size of a grain of rice. But, we are planning for the nursery and childproofing the house, and marking time by before and after our child arrives will become more and more common.

"After the baby's born" seems like a big finish line right now, just visible all the way out there in June, and in a way it is, and there is a lot we need to do to be ready for the home stretch heading into June. But it's also just the starting line for a whole different race.
