Busy night, but everything's cool

First: Jen and Baby are just fine. So, now for the story.

Jen woke me at about 2AM because she was feeling really sick and wanted me to rub her back. This did not help much, and she was soon in the bathroom experiencing an unknown, very unpleasant sensation. Contractions! A warm bath seemed to help a bit, but then she got sick and they kicked in with a vengeance and she had me call the doctor. He said that with the reported symptoms, Jen should come in for monitoring. So she got her PJ's and a robe and we were off for the hospital's birthing center.

Jen had already registered at the birth center, so we just had to sign in and we were escorted to an antepartum room for testing. Jen was given a piece of origami to wear, which I helped her figure out, and then the fetal monitors were attached and Rowan's heartbeat came through loud and clear. Jen's blood pressure was just fine, though the nurse had Jen drink a bunch of water while she was there as she was apparently a little dehydrated. Otherwise we just sat while the machine recorded Rowan's heartbeat and a couple little contractions. After about half an hour, the nurse came back around and said that everything looked fine and the doctor said that there had been a flu going around, and the vomiting kicked off the contractions. We ended up getting back around 4:15AM. Jen took the day off work to recuperate, and she feels fine now, while I worked a later shift.
